Castletownbere, County Cork
Part of: Beara Peninsula / West Cork / County Cork / Ireland
Also: Castletownbere, Castletown Berehaven, Castletown-Berehaven, CTB
Principal town on the Beara peninsula, County Cork. Locus of the 1846 Times famine clipping (1846-12-31), the 1881 Reynolds case (multiple Dec 1881 clippings), and explicit point-of-origin for the Sullivan-Kelly schoolmates wedding in Butte 1911 (1911-09-09_butte-daily-post_sullivan-kelly-castletownbere- wedding-st-lawrences). The 1922 St Patrick's banquet attendee list named multiple "Cork, Ireland" emigrants among the JJM cluster; Castletownbere is one of the more specific origin points documented. Same place as the older place_berehaven vocab entry — the two are kept separate because period sources use both forms and the distinction can matter for citation precision.
