MRS. MALONEY DIES ON COAST
The Montana Standard, Butte, 1933-03-29, p.5
Summary
Obituary of **Mrs. J. H. Maloney, 65**, a former Butte resident who left Butte in 1910, died of a sudden heart attack at her home in Long Beach, California. Prominent in Butte church, fraternal and charity work; an ardent Baptist who helped build the present Baptist church edifice at West Broadway and Montana street. A native of Mankato, Minnesota (as was Mr. Maloney). The Maloneys married in Butte; Mr. Maloney was a leading West Granite street realtor active in mining properties (an interest in the Ruby mine), and they lived at 501 West Quartz street, later 501 W. Quartz. After 1910 they resided in Palo Alto (daughter at Stanford), then Long Beach. Survived by daughter Mrs. A. C. Hollensteiner of Long Beach. News relayed by W. S. Thompson. NOT the family Maloughneys/Maloneys. This is a Baptist, Mankato-born real-estate family — distinct in religion, origin and circle from the Irish-Catholic Maloughney/Maloney clan tied to the Chatham sisters in this archive. Recorded as a namesake so a Maloney/Maloughney name-search surfaces it with the distinction made explicit.

Open questions
- Confirm no overlap with the family Maloughney/Maloney circle. Everything here (Baptist faith, Mankato origin, Stanford daughter, Long Beach) points away from the Walkerville Irish-Catholic Maloughneys. Treated as namesake_only.
