# LOCAL IRISHMEN ORGANIZE FOR BOND DRIVE ## Securities of Irish Republic Is to Be Sold During the Period From February 12 to March 17. *The Labor Bulletin (Butte, Montana), Saturday, January 24, 1920, p. 4.* Subscriptions for $100,000 of the $10,000,000 bond drive for the Irish republic will be solicited in Montana in the period beginning on Lincoln's birthday, Feb. 12, and ending St. Patrick's day, March 17, according to plans formulated last night at a meeting of the joint committee of the various Irish societies supporting Irish freedom. The meeting was held in District Judge Lynch's courtroom and during the evening general and district committees were appointed. The drive in Silver Bow county will be under the direction of a committee headed by John Caplis as chairman, J. J. Harrington, treasurer; and Mrs. Mamie Lenihan as secretary. Other members of the directing committee are Barry O'Leary, John Gribben, Judge Lynch, James J. Murphy, W. J. Sewell, Catherine Harrington and Margaret O'Meara. The general plan of the bond drive was explained to the assembled committee by Attorney James E. Murray, chairman of the national committee for Montana. The bonds will be in denominations of $10, $25, $50, $100, $250, $500, $1,000, $5,000 and $10,000. They will be non-negotiable and non-interest bearing until the Irish republic has been fully established and has received the recognition of the nations of the world. Six months after Ireland receives international recognition and British forces are withdrawn from Ireland, the bonds will bear interest, providing they have been converted to gold bonds of the republic.
