Murphy, Popular Department Manager, Will Be the Superintendent After June 1. *The Butte Miner, Tuesday, May 25, 1915, p. 6.* Announcement was made last night that James J. Murphy, manager of the boys' clothing department at the Hennessy store, will assume the position of store superintendent on June 1, succeeding Arthur Berry, who resigned yesterday to take the business management of the Florence hotel in association with former Sheriff John K. O'Rourke. Mr. Berry's resignation takes effect on June 1. It will terminate 16 years of service with the store, during which Mr. Berry rose step by step from the position of salesman to that of store superintendent, which he has held for the past two years. Mr. Murphy started employment with the Hennessy company as a cash boy in 1898. His promotion comes as a deserved reward of 17 years of service, during which he has steadily advanced. He is one of the most popular employees of the firm and his advancement will be hailed with satisfaction by a host of friends in Butte. He was a candidate for nomination as county treasurer at the last election. He is well known in local lodge circles. With Mr. O'Rourke, Mr. [Berry] will assume management of the Florence hotel on June 1 and will direct the business affairs of the hotel. Messrs.
