Modern Irish: Baile Uí Chróbháin. Townland on the north shore of Coulagh Bay, parish of Kilcatherine, immediately west of Eyeries. Site of the Ballycrovane / Coomatloukane ogham stone — the tallest known ogham monument in Ireland (~5.3 m), recorded in the 1873 Archaeologia Cambrensis correspondence as standing "17 feet 6 inches above ground" with the inscription commencing MACUI DECCEDDA. The 19th-century English spelling "Ballyrovane" (used in the 1873 letter) is the antiquarian-press variant; the modern Irish-language / Ordnance Survey form is "Ballycrovane". Birthplace of Jeremith J. Lynch per the 1922 Butte St. Patrick's Day banquet roll.
