Witnessed JJM's naturalization at Butte 26 Sept 1906. As a naturalization witness Towey must have been a US citizen by 1906 and known JJM personally for 5+ years (so since c. 1901 or earlier). Likely a Butte Irish-American friend, co-worker at Hennessy's, or Centerville neighbour. Surname spelling RECONFIRMED as "Towey" by the 1994 Sagebrushers Diary reproduction of the same cert (clean typed transcription reads Towey). Possibly related to William Thoroway who appears on JJM's 1907 Sagebrushers Yellowstone trip — Towey / Thoroway could be the same family under spelling drift, or distinct.
