Olsen, 52, recently arrived here from Iditarod, Alaska, was found lying across the Northern Pacific railroad tracks a short distance south of Spokane avenue last night. A revolver and one empty whisky bottle found near the body led the police to believe at first that Olsen had committed suicide, but investigation showed that he had been shot twice, once in the back of the head and once through the heart. The coroner said today he is satisfied Olsen was murdered, and that liquor robbery was the motive. A letter signed "Jim," found in Olsen's pocket, apparently was from a sister, residing at any North Albany street, Chicago. **SUFFICIENT EVIDENCE.** Mrs. Ex—It isn't right to charge Willy with taking that money out of your pocket. FOR THE COMPLEXION Purely Vegetable, [illegible] **'CURE SICK HEADACHE.'** --- ## Column 2 # YOUNG MEN'S CLUB IS COMPLIMENTED **Fourth Annual Installation of Officers Attended by a Great Number.** The entertainment provided by the Centerville Young Men's club last evening for their fourth annual public installation of officers showed conclusively that in the four years of its existence the popular hill club has made great progress. Each of the speakers commented on this, and County Attorney Tom Walker went one further and said that having a clubroom in each of the four sections of the city would be of inestimable benefit to the community. All the members confined themselves to paying a tribute to the boys of the club and to giving a little advice, which was always something to be freely offered. A. B. Melzner characterized the members of the club as the "best bunch of boys" in the city, and as far as athletics went they could outplay anything of their weight or age "that ever met on a football field, a baseball diamond or a basketball court." Judge Lynch told the boys they had many friends on the outside who watched their careers with the greatest of interest. Judge McClernan gave two bits of advice: "Obey all laws, human and divine," and "Mind your own business." **"Mother" of the Club.** Tribute was paid to John Gillie of the Amalgamated, Dan Coleman of the Mountain Con mine and Miss Anna Sullivan, who is known as the "mother of the club," for in her head and heart originated the idea of a club for the lads. Miss Sullivan made a little speech at the end of the program, telling the boys how proud she was of their progress. Jerry D. Murphy, the new president of the club, presided at the meeting and briefly introduced the past president, Otis Lee, who welcomed the immense gathering, told of the history of the club and asked for the co-operation of all for its success. The program was enjoyed to the utmost. The exhibitions on the bars and the real mats were something, and a vein of honor was injured which won instant approval. The boxing exhibitions were a treat. The musical end of the program was well attended to. The ushers of the club were busy endeavoring to seat all the desired admission. About 500 had to go away. It is expected that the fifth annual show will be given at the Broadway theater, for there only could the crowd that sought admittance be conveniently accommodated. Remarks—Miss Anna Sullivan. --- ### GOOD TEMPLARS OF BUTTE HOLD A BANQUET ON THEIR ANNIVERSARY The old days in Montana were referred to in an address by Masena Bullard at the banquet last evening by the Good Templars of Butte to mark their thirty-sixth anniversary. He contrasted conditions then and now. He said the first temperance society was formed in a saloon building. Rev. C. A. Rearoud was toastmaster. McCaffrey. **ORDER IS ISSUED.** An order was issued yesterday on behalf of the Mill and Smeltermen's union, directed to the officers of the Miners' union, the Engineers' union and J. C. Mangan, president of the Western Federation of Miners, requiring them to produce in court next Saturday the constitution and by-laws of the organizations named. **MRS. LEWIS IS DEAD.** Spokane, Feb. 27.—Mrs. Pearl Lewis, wife of Fred Lewis, died in a hospital here last night from the affects of a quantity of bichloride of mercury tablets, taken, it is believed, with suicidal intent.
